Innovative technology in proven quality
GFU – Maschinenbau GmbH has grown steadily and in a controlled manner since 1989. We are pioneers in forming technology and one of the leading suppliers of forming machines worldwide. Our mechanical and electronic engineers develop customized concepts for your product. Our
specialization, high quality awareness and great flexibility in thinking and acting make us a competent partner for
the solution of complex, innovative, technical tasks.
Forming technology is a pioneering key technology for the production of high-quality series components, it
- is economical in its use of raw materials
- Reduces the operating weight of the parts
- achieves a homogeneous fiber flow
- allows near-net-shape production
1989
Foundation of the company GFU – Gesellschaft für Umformung und Maschinenbau GmbH – based in Bitburg. Management buy-out of the business unit circular forging machines and pipe end presses by the long-term head of this business unit, Mr. Manfred Klever.
1990
Construction of our own production hall in the industrial area “Auf Merlick” in Bitburg.
1993
Construction of an administration building and rental of a production hall.
1994
Establishment of the subcontracted production of round forgings Customers: AUDI, DC, Interoc, Mannesmann-Vallourec, VW
Development and patenting of the new forming technology “flow-rolling” including the associated forming machines for gas-tight sealing of tubes, e.g. for airbag pressure vessels, shock absorbers, designer radiators, etc.
1997
First expansion of the production hall.
1998
Continuous growth in staff from originally 1 to 45 employees.
1999
Foundation of the company EFS Euro-Forming Services GmbH for contract manufacturing of components based on GFU forming technologies.
2000
Construction of an office building and a production hall with an area of 4,000 m² / total area 14,000 m².
2002
Further development of upsetting technology for automotive applications, such as camshafts, stabilizers, etc.
2006
From the single machine to the complete and linked production line – turnkey plant technology from GFU.
2008
Developing the market for oil and gas exploration with upsetting presses for pipes up to Ø 6.5/8″ and according to API 5DP.
2009
Development of drawing-in and expanding presses (swager) according to API 5CT for the oil and gas sector.
2010
Setting the course for the future: alongside company founder Manfred Klever, Michael Roderich now becomes a shareholder in GFU after many years of collaboration.
2012
New development: the largest GFU swager (drawing-in / expanding press) for oilfield casings from Ø 2.3/8″ – Ø 20″ and a pressing force of 750 tons is built.
2016
Certification
The introduction of ISO 9001:2015 certification underlines the quality of the company.
2018
Development E-line press
In 2018, the new press generation “e-line” was developed at GFU. The vertical press is fully electric and is operated by means of 7 synchronized CNC Axes.
2019
Expansion/development
The construction of a new production hall and a new administration building in Bitburg is completed.
2020
Expansion/development of rotor shaft technology
GFU lays the foundation for the transformation from combustion engines to electric drives. Development of rotor shaft technology using 3 GFU forming processes (upsetting, rolling, drawing-in).
2021
Development of new stamping systems for controlled shock absorbers for use in hybrid and electric vehicles
Due to new requirements in the shock absorber sector as a result of greater vehicle weights, GFU has developed new punching systems. The shock absorbers formed by GFU are punched on these systems in a second step.
2022
Development of new E-line press series up to 60 tons upsetting force
For the shock absorber production area, GFU develops new drive concepts for the calibration of valve seats. For this purpose, the new TFM 50e-line and TFM 60e-line series is being developed and built for the first time.
2023
Development of new E-line press series up to 150 tons compression force
GFU is developing the new E-line upsetting line generation TFM 100 e-line and TFM 150 e-line especially for rotor shaft production.
